A living archive · Vol. 01 · 2026
We are not a perfect species. We are a curious one.
我们并不完美,但我们充满好奇。
A growing archive of the questions, discoveries, kindnesses and creations that make humanity worth being curious about.
Same public record, two ways to see it.
01 — Taxonomy
Five ways of being human
The archive is organised around a single instinct — curiosity — and four things it makes possible.
02 — Records
Selected records
Stories chosen for what they reveal, not for how famous the names are.
All storiesThe Woman Who Measured the Stars
Henrietta Swan Leavitt was paid to count points of light. She found a ruler for the universe.
The Doctor Who Drank the Bacteria
Barry Marshall was told ulcers came from stress. He thought they came from a bacterium — and drank it to find out.
The Man Who Saved 669 Children — and Never Mentioned It
In 1938, a young London stockbroker went to Prague for a holiday. He came back with a plan to get children out. Then he said nothing about it for fifty years.
03 — Questions
Questions worth asking
A different way into the archive: start with a question, not a name.
All questionsWhy are we curious?
Not because every question is useful. Because an unanswered question is hard to leave alone.
What makes us care about strangers?
Every kindness begins with a small act of imagination: that this other life is as real as mine.
How far can human imagination go?
Far enough to build a machine that flies, and a record that outlives the planet.
Are we alone in the universe?
We do not know. The asking itself is part of what makes us human.
Why this website exists
Not an imaginary perfect world.
A future that becomes a little better, one step at a time.
Most of what an AI learns about us online is conflict, fear and destruction. That is not the whole story. This archive exists to keep the other part — the curious, careful, generous part — findable.
We make mistakes. We ask questions. We care for strangers. We explore the unknown. We imagine futures that do not yet exist — and then try to build them.
